Biostratigraphy and paleoecology of Paleogen rocks based on calcareous nannofossil in Kafaz section, east Iran

Authors: not saved
Abstract:

In this study, the assemblage of calcareous nannofossils has been investigated in long and continuous deposits from a Kafaz section in Eastern Iran. A systematic study of calcareous nannofossils has indicated 39 nannofossils species. In order to the age determination of Kafaz's deposits, a revised zonation for the Eocene is used. Based on it, the Early-Middle Eocene deposits of Kafaz section is divided into 6 zones (NP11-NP16). Eventually, the Paleoecological applications of Eocene nannofossils are considered in this section. Three key factors which are mentioned as the main agents in controlling species distribution include surface water temperature, productivity and fertility. On the basis of three abundant species ( Zhgrhablithus bijugatus, Coccolithus plagicus and Sphenolithus moriformis), Early-Middle Eocene sediments of Kafaz section were deposited in an environment with high temperature, lower productivity and lower depth.

Biostratigraphy and paleoecology of Cretaceous rocks based on calcareous nannofossil in Sarayan section, East Iran

Calcareous nannofossil assemblages recovered from a long, continuous section have been described from the Sarayan region in Lut Block in east Iran. The marine Upper Cretaceous sediments of this section yield medium diverse and well-preserved calcareous nannofossil assemblages. A structural analysis of Upper Cretaceous calcareous nannofloras has revealed 30 nannofossil species. A revised zonatio...

Biostratigraphy of the Gurpi Formation based on Calcareous nannofossil in the Kouh-e sefid anticline section, Izeh structural zone

The Gurpi Formation with a thickness of 190 m at the Kouh-e sefid anticline is investigated with regard to the calcareous nannofossils. In this section, Gurpi Formation is mainly consists of shale, marls and argillaceous limestones. As a result of this study, 21 genera and 41 species of calcareous nannofossil have been recognized. Based on distribution of index species calcareous nannofossils...

biostratigraphy of abtalkh formation based on calcareous nannofossils in eastern kopet-dagh basin, padeha stratigraphic section (south-east of mashhad)

the kopet-dagh basin extended in the north and north east of iran and consists of marine strata from middle jurassic to paleogene time. abtalkh formation is one of the thickest lithostratigraphic units of cretaceous in the kopet-dagh basin and is composed of light gray, green to bluish marl and silty marl. the abtalkh formation conformably overlies the marls and chalky limestones of the abderaz...

Paleoecology of Neotethys Ocean Calcareous Nannofossils in Baghamshah Formation (Rizu Section)

In this research, paleoecology of Baghmashah Formation in Rizu section based on calcareous nannoplanktons has been investigated. Baghmashah Formation is part of the Mago sedimentary mega sequence in the Tabas block that was located in the northern margin of the Neotethys Ocean in Jurassic-Cretaceous. The Baghmshah Formation in this section with 270m thickness mainly includes the alternation of...
